Ghat of Banaras - Dashashwamedh Ghat

Dashashwamedh Ghat, one of the oldest and most vibrant ghats of Varanasi, holds a special place in the heart of Hindu Mythology and Spirituality . Located near the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple, this ghat always alive with devotion, rituals, and the divine energy of the River Ganga. According to ancient legends, Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, performed ten Ashwamedh Yajnas (horse sacrifices) here to welcome Lord Shiva. The name "Dashashwamedh" itself means ' the place of ten horse sacrifices '. It is believed that these Yajnas were performed to glorify Kashi as the holiest city on the earth and to please Lord Shiva, who resides here as Vishwanath - the Lord of the universe. Another story tells that Lord Brahma created this ghat himself to welcome Lord Shiva when he returned to earth after long meditation.
